Photographic mentoring-1-5

Thanks for visiting this page! Its a brief run down of what my mentoring sessions consist of. For me, photography is a constant area of growth. I’ve spent the last 15 years trying to absorb a much as possible from as many different sources. Through that time I’ve found that I always learn the most from fellow photographers. This is my little area to pass on some of that knowledge!

Each mentor session can either be done in person or online. I’ve split them up into a couple of different areas but am happy to customize a session to exactly what you want to learn.

Photographic mentoring-1-3

1. Looking for light and using it.

The single most important part of photography and the answer to all of these:

My photos don’t look sharp

I can’t get a preset to work on all my images

I spend hours editing

I can’t keep my colours consistent

I can only shoot at sunset.

The idea of this session is to spend two hours looking at how light works, where to find it and how to use it. Its a wonderful magical thing and I’ll probably get excited and talk to fast!

Before this session I’ll go through your work to look at how you use light and show you light in a way that you’re not already using it.

This session is best done in person.

2. Storytelling

A story can be told in a single image or a blog post. If you want people to be wowed by your work you need to give them a story.

The idea of this session is to go through your work and talk about what you’re trying to say. I will also reference leading contemporary and historical photographers and show you how to present your work in order to captivate your audience.

3. Portfolio review

Most of the people around us tell us our work is wonderful. Although these compliments are great they can also harm our progression.

This is a realistic look through your work focusing on the areas that need growth and a thorough look at image selection.

We also go through who you would like to have as clients and how to focus your imagery towards them.
